Tine Thing Helseth and violinist Karen Gomyo will join Fabio Luisi and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for four world premiere concerts at the Meyerson Symphony Center from the 22nd-25th February. Gomyo and Helseth will premiere a new DSO commission by Chinese-American composer Xi Wang, YEAR 2020: Concerto for Violin, Trumpet, and Orchestra. This unusual pairing of trumpet and violin soloists in the piece reflects the work’s inspiration in the tumultuous and unprecedented world of the Covid-19 pandemic. The concert’s programme will also feature DSO Composer-in-Residence Sophia Jani’s Flare and Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony, with organist Bradley Hunter Welch as soloist.
