Tine Thing Helseth won the Spellemannprisen for Best Classical Recording for her LAWO release, ECHOES. Norway’s top music award, the Spellemann Prize recognizes the most distinguished recordings of the year, selected by a jury of members from IFPI Norway and the FONO label association. This is Tine’s second Spellemann Prize, having won Newcomer of the Year in 2007 for her SIMAX debut album Haydn – Hummel – Albinoni – Neruda. The winners were announced on 22 March at Bjørvika’s Opera House in a ceremony broadcast live on NRK from 19:50 local time.
Tine is joined by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Petr Popelka on ECHOES. The album explores a wide range of trumpet repertoire, combining dramatic, modernist, and emotionally rich works. Arutiunian’s Trumpet Concerto opens the program with its energetic and folk-inspired themes. Penderecki’s Concertino for Trumpet and Orchestra introduces a contemporary edge, and Arutiunian’s Theme and Variations adds a kaleidoscope of moods and colors. The album concludes with Weinberg’s Trumpet Concerto, offering emotional depth and complexity through its expansive structure and expressive writing.
