This weekend, trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth returns to Germany to perform with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin on Sunday, 28 September. Helseth will join the Orchestra at Konzerthaus Berlin for Britta Byström’s “täckminnen” (Screen memories), conducted by Sebastian Weigle. The programme also features Goldmark’s In Spring and Beethoven’s Second Symphony in D Major.

Byström’s Screen Memories is a trumpet concerto inspired by personal and musical memories, including influences from Per Nørgård’s Voyage Into the Golden Screen, Donovan’s song, and Beethoven’s Pathetique. Dedicated to Helseth, whose virtuoso playing inspired the solo part, it reimagines these memories through music. The concerto premiered in 2013 in Sweden, with Helseth performing alongside the Nordic Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Johannes Gustavsson.

Other highly anticipated returns this season include the Konzerthausorchester Berlin with Aziz Shokhakimov, Zurich Chamber Orchestra at Tonhalle Zurich, and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra with Elias Grandy. She will also perform with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo and the Teatro Petruzzelli Orchestra in Bari.

In addition, Helseth continues to champion Doom Painting – a new trumpet concerto written for her by Nico Muhly. Following successful European premieres with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra under Markus Poschner and with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under Hannu Lintu at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, she will premiere the work this season in Norway with the Oslo Philharmonic and Pekka Kuusisto, and in the UK with The Hallé Orchestra under Alpesh Chauhan.
